REACTION: We Will Not Succumb to Hurricanes or Hate

In response to President Trump moving to strip young immigrants of legal status, grassroots groups calling to action at #BastaTexas shared the following reactions:

Marianela Acuna Arreaza, Director, Fe y Justicia Worker Center (Houston):

“This administration is hurting immigrants, the very people who will be – and already are – playing a key role rebuilding our city after Harvey. But we will not succumb to hurricanes or to hate, because to be clear, we are a force of creation.”

Daniela Rojas, Jolt Member and DACA Recipient (Austin):

“There are nearly 120,000 young immigrants like myself in Texas, just as American and worthy as anyone else. This is the only country I know, this is my home, and I know that our community will stand strong. This fight is far from over.”

Nolan Adams, Carrollton Community Movement (Dallas/Fort Worth):

“By moving to strip immigrant youth – “dreamers” – of legal status, the Trump administration has drawn a line in the sand, stepping on the side of white supremacy, opposite to the ideals of unity, equality, and justice. The question is now whether our local and state elected officials will remain silent and complicit, or take action to reject the hate agenda. Here in Carrollton, the first step is to exit 287g.”
